Just about 24 hours before my brother and I leave on our road trip from Kagoshima to Kanagawa. I finally got some time to calculate how much I’ll need to be driving so my brother can make it to see his friend in Kamakura next Saturday.
I know from past experience that I shouldn’t be driving for more than 8 hours a day, so I made this road trip to be one day driving and one day in a city. This will give me time to recover from driving and my brother time to do some work on his computer at a cafe.
This is our rough itinerary:
Day 1
- Studio Roku Shop-Building Party
- Clean up after event
- Leave Dad’s house by midnight
- Stay at the Roadside Station in Miyakonojo
Day 2
- Drive from Miyakonojo to Fukuoka (6 hours)
- Have dinner at Nouko Udon
- Find an onsen and relax
- Stay at Roadside Station Munakata
Day 3
- Drive from Fukuoka to Yamaguchi (3 hours)
- Have lunch at Mocchimo Pasta
- Drive from Yamaguchi to Iwakuni (2 hours)
- Meet up with a friend in Iwakuni
- Stay at friend’s place
Day 4
- Spend the day in the Iwakuni area and hang out with my friend
- Stay at friend’s place
Day 5
- Drive from Iwakuni to Nagoya (6 hours on the highway)
- Find a place to sit with our computers for a few hours
- Stay at Roadside Station Tatsuta (near Nagoya city)
Day 6
- Spend a day in Nagoya
- Want to take a pilates class
- Stay at Roadside Station Toyohashi
Day 7
- Drive from Nagoya to Shizuoka (4 hours)
- Have lunch at Sawayaka
- Stay at Roadside Station Kawane Onsen
Day 8
- Meet up with a friend in Yaizu
- Drive from Yaizu to Kamakura (3 hours)
- Drop off Bro
- Drive from Kamakura to Kawasaki (1 hour)
- Park the car
- Knock out at Bro’s house
That’s how our trip is looking like for now. Things will most-likely change as we start driving, but that’s the fun of a road trip anyway. I’m also looking forward to all the cafes we’ll be stopping by in the mornings and new local restaurants we’ll try out for dinners!
